Hello, my name is Nicholas Doll, and I’m a senior at Union Catholic High School in Scotch Plains, NJ. I’m a sports media storyteller with experience across live broadcast production, videography, social media, and creative design. I’ve worked with professional, amateur, and high school teams, and I plan to major in Communications and Sports Media in college to continue building on that foundation.
My professional experience includes the Somerset Patriots, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, where I’ve worked as a camera operator, replay operator, and director. I also cover statewide high school sports for Jersey Sports Zone, shooting and editing highlights, producing interviews, and creating social content under deadline. As a freelancer, I’ve contributed to Shore Sports Insider and the Jersey Shore Basketball League, covering everything from high school championships at MetLife Stadium to summer league games packed with Division I talent.
At Union Catholic, I played a major role in growing UC Sports Media into a bigger, more consistent program. While the group existed long before me, I expanded its coverage, directed more broadcasts, created graphics, and helped shape its presence on social media. Alongside that, I got my very first start at TV35 in Cranford, where I learned the basics of community broadcasting before moving into bigger arenas.
My path in sports media really started when I was 13, showing up at a Somerset Patriots job fair and being told, “You’re too young, come back when you’re sixteen.” Instead of letting that stop me, I threw myself into every opportunity I could find. By the time I turned sixteen, I came back to Somerset not as a fan, but as part of the broadcast crew. That early rejection ended up being the spark that pushed me to keep chasing opportunities, and it’s shaped the way I approach every assignment since.
